Money

Don’t want no fake affiance
Don’t want no surreal dreams
Money cant buy me love, they said
But It does buy me things I’ve loved
Money, money is all I need
Money, money is all I want

Your loving can give me the thrills
But your love don’t pay my bills
Your smiles make my day bright
Even that doesn’t set my bike right
Money, money is all I need
Money, money is all I want

A Taj Mahal or two
That’s what I could make for you
A symbol of love for my honey
But even that needs some money
Money, money is all I need
Money, money is all I want

I wanna see the hard cash
And no worries for my next stash
A castle of notes in my room
Which could buy me a flying broom
Money, money is all I need
Money, money is all I want

Don’t want no fake affiance

Don’t want no surreal dreams

Money cant buy me love, they said

But It does buy me things I’ve loved

Money, money is all I need

Money, money is all I want

//Your love gives me the cheers

Your loving can give me the thrills

But your love don’t pay my bills

Your smiles make my day bright

Even that doesn’t set my bike right

Money, money is all I need

Money, money is all I want

A Taj Mahal or two

That’s what I’ll make for you

A symbol of love for my honey

But even that needs the money

Money, money is all I need

Money, money is all I want

I wanna see the hard cash

And no worries for the next stash

A stash of notes in my room

Which could buy me a flying broom

Money, money is all I need

Money, money is all I want

Yamaha R1

My adaptation of what She said some40 or so years ago.

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me Yamaha R1
Rich men all drive Hayabusa , I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me Yamaha R1

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me an Ipod?
My friends all want the cheques back
I wait each month for salary so long
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me an Ipod?

Oh Lord, won’t you let me a ride in the town?
I’m counting on you, Lord, please don’t let me down.
Prove that you love me at the next petrol bunk,
Oh Lord, won’t you let me a ride in the town?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me Yamaha R1
Rich men all drive Hayabusa , I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me Yamaha R1

Only if she could sing it 😐

Maggi

Indian I was born
Gorged on parathas the day I got the teeth
Chapati, the circle to make my days go around
Curry, the gift of India to world is what I live for
Daal, the strength of forts, is what we believe on

Down south I came
To the land of dosas and Idlis,
Replaced chutneys varied, the curries of north.
Biryani, the one of chicken, the diet staple of a city grand
Sappadiya the Uttapam, the idiappam of lands further south

A Metro then beckoned
Lasagna and the sauce white, replaced the curry black
Momos the boiled and white, the Chinese delight
Nachos, the snack and meal full, of lands south and west
Along with Subs, the interesting, a food healthy but fast

Yet, maggi is what I love most
Food of curves, queen of the hearts
Have it raw, boil it up or fry with oil
Masala, coriander or the pepper to spice it up
2 minutes is what it takes, add water is what you do

The gift of life
Snack, dinner or meal of 2
That’s what I want to eat
The curls and curves of that food of Gods
To the grave or beyond it, maggi is all that I want

The Road Life

Life, to most of the people would mean different things. Its a subject as diverse as any on the face of earth. My funda of life too is, a bit different. As far as life goes, I consider it more as a Programming class with some properties and functions which are inherited by different kinds of lives, College life, School life, work life. love life. Some of them are not as much our choice and doing like college life and all. Some of them you tend to acquire over the journey, can pick up love life if you do fall in love, online life has been the result of arrival of Internet and our addiction to it. And them sometime when you are man enough, you get a bike/car, and thats when starts a new class of life, The Road Life.

Companions we do have on the Road, some supporting, accompanying you as a pillion. Some on the road, are more of nothings, drudging along and lost in the haze of people. Some you shoot by, blazing the horns, worthy of some attention while some zoom pass you, making you sit and notice. Life on a road, is a grass which doesnt look green until you come to the other side. Thats when the boring preconceptions turn into thrilling experiences. The road once you start living on it, takes a whole new shape.

Each and every thing plying on the roads has its character and characteristics, which are a combination of the driver and the vehicle, making it all the more interesting than spending time with just a person, and as you drive on, you get to know them, understand them. Thats why you know that a truck would never deviate from a straight line path in any situations but the most extreme and you can plan your squeeze between the truck and the divider based on this. Every interaction with the occupants of the roads is different in almost every aspect, take Overtaking for example. Overtaking a truck/bus gives you a feeling of scales and your size when you are pushed/pulled at times by the force of the truck. When you are comparable in size to the tyre of the truck. Truck/bus seem like aliens to the world, something ala the Sabu of Chacha Chaudhary. Cars on the other hand, are a completely different species, passing by them is generally almost a no event. More than often they would be cruising along at comfortable speeds, making far too less sounds and just going by. Then we also have the bikes like RX100 (which you can say started biking in India) which need to be accorded grand fatherly respect at times. Even though the bike is old but the fire within the drivers never dies and they foolishly compete with the new age bikes. There are also the bullets, the big, the loud, the slow and the steady like a raging bull making you aware of its presence.

Calling it life, and not mentioning any competition, would seriously undermine its validity to the claim as life is almost always about with whom, why and how you are endeavouring rather than for how and what it is. Most interesting aspect of the road is the little. In other places you need to look for challenges, here, they are dished out to you, waiting to be gobbled up by you. Most interesting part of the road, is the little matches you have with people you never knew and might never see again in your life, complete strangers turn foes. The engines are roared, the bikes are bustled occasionally the brakes screech, but you go on;looking for traces of the foe through the helmet screen or the rear view mirror. The races while contested in the meanest of spirits and the scantest regard for the other person or the fellow travellers have always ended on a happy note for me. Am yet to meet a biker, who after a long racing session didnt wave a hand to me or vice versa from my side. Even had a brief chat with a R1 (who i proudly acclaim I did beat ). Last night, was the first time I had a street challenge thrown by a P220. And it was also the same night when i won my first street challenge after losing the first one coz of the sheer stupidity of starting a race on 2nd gear, and as a result by the time my wheels start moving, he was zooming into 30s & 40s. It was a race contested with sheer enthusiasm and hate for the other person, and was witnessed by a crowd of around 20 people, and then the end was completed with a shake of the hand and the exchange of the names, which ofcourse would be lost in the daze of many more such names and races. But the thrill of the race was so great that even while recounting the story more than 12 hours later, my fingers are still trembling, heart beats are still racing. In a sense, road life is better than real, as you are greeted with a smile and a shake of the hand at the end of every challenge.

IPL-3

PS: Written before the RCB/RR match on 18th!

Perhaps the biggest drama in the world of cricket (Discounting for ODI World cup )has begun and the world is watching, enjoying, cheering, supporting and cursing teams, players and franchisees all through the country. We all know IPL is more like a movie to be enjoyed rather than being watched like you do for cricket… Its all about business and money and all, but who cares. Its cricket and if its cricket, there would be analysis and here’s mine.

Chennai Super Kings Along with Delhi, the only team to have reached Semi-finals in both the previous versions. CSK have been an impressive side for the last 2 seasons riding. Their course during the IPL depends a lot on the way Dhoni goes, coz accept it or not, he is the only reliable batsman in their team, beside the bludgeon Hayden, who too would be short on match practice, given his retirement. The bowlers save Murali really need it to be Their day to leave any sort of mark on the game. Raina has always been a star for India and CSK in shorter format, even this time a lot depends on his young shoulders specially with him being appointed the captain over so many senior players.

Deccan Chargers – The team almost begins and ends with Gilchrist, there is an array of good players senior and junior but Gibbs has never performed to expectations in IPL, Rohit Sharma looks more like a wannabe these days than the succesor to No4 position which he looked like sometime ago. Symonds as always is a safe bet in T20 and can turn the games away in a matter of overs like he did against CSK. Besides Vaas, no one in the bowling department really gives you the confidence. Great stars given by Vaas have been almost wasted away by the other bowlers. RP isnt just good enough and Ojha comes quite lower down in Indian spin pecking although he is not at all a bad bowler.

Delhi Daredevils – The only team which has looked good in all 3 seasons. Amongst the most supported team along with MI all thanks to a wonderful line up consisting of foreign and local stars in nice balance. The biggest DD will have not only in this edition of IPL but throughout the future tournaments is that the locals of the team are the biggest stars. Perhaps the strongest line up boasting of Viru, Gambhir, Dilshan, AB along with a few quality local batsmen. The only problem the team has is, absence of a good bowler beside Nannes. The team of Mishra, Maharoof and Parnell looks almost ineffective if Nannes doesnt provide a good start.

Kolkata Knight Riders – (or is it just KR now?)The less said about this team in previous versions, the better it is for their reputation. Seemed to be going along nicely this season until the last match where they crumbled like a castle of sand, reminiscing of the KKR of yore. The problem with the team is the lack of quality players. Dada is well beyond his age, Tiwary has shown promise but its still early days for him while Brad Hodge has been an indifferent performer in IPL. Missing the big hitting opener Gayle, they arent left with much options. If batting lacks depth, then bowling save Bond (the newest recruit) is merely ordinary. Ishant rarely bowls good spells these days, Murali Karthik is more of containing bowler than a strike bowler.

King’s XI Punjab The only team in IPL I am not interested in!
Why?
I dislike their original captain
Their owner has become ugly now (look at Shilpa shetty)
they don’t have good or exciting players at all. at best they have Yusuf Abdullah and Irfan Pathan and a Yuvraj who doesnt fire.

Mumbai Indians – Although very early days in the competition, but MI looks like the team to beat in this IPL. Sachin in the best form of his life is leading perhaps the strongest team . Although Jayasuriya is also nearing his sell by date, but his and Sachin’s opening partnership is the stuff dreams are made of and almost everyone watching IPL would like to see them click together. Even in bowling department they have the services of Malinga , Zaheer Khan and Bhajji. In Keiron Pollard (everyone’s fav in Challengers Cup) and Dwayne Brvao, they hav 2 West Indians which provide balance to the side. The biggest problem with Mumbai in the last seasons had been losing the close matches, they gave the signals of changing by holding nerve in 1st match against the assault of Yusuf Pathan. Even the youngsters Rayadu & Tiwary in the middle order have performed unexpectedly well.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Another team with its Indian players in good form and with Kallis being in ominous form, they really do look like a strong team this year, contrary to the billing of being a test team given to them. In Steyn, they have the strike bowler any team would die for (although his performance hasnt really been upto the mark) and in Kumble, they have got the huge experience of a bowling captain who can be more than often depended upon, Kallis is more than useful (bloody bowls at 141 ks even now). Manish Pandey, the find of last IPL hasn’t done much , Virat Kohli is continuing the good form of his sojourns with Indian team. Uthappa was red hot in the last game, while Morgan ofcourse is the interesting one… Kallis ofcourse is Karizmatic! Lower middle order really hasn’t been tested yet but it has got the Wall before it, so we should rather not be too worried about that. All in all a win-win combination.

Rajasthan Royals – They were the underdogs in IPL-I who won the tournament but I hardly see any chances of them even nearing the top 4 spots this season. Reasons we all know, they miss the heroism of Watson & Tanveer of the 1st season, Shane Warne’s charm isnt working out. The energy, the charisma, the excitement isnt there anymore in his side. Coupled with the loss of Greame Smith & Dmitri Mascarenhas to injuries, I think they should occupy the bottom positions of the pool along with (who else?) KKR. The biggest problem with them is, the lack of quality players and you cant expect to win such a competition riding on Shane Warne (out of touch) and Yusuf Pathan (at best inconsistent). They have really lost the zing, they don’t even have the players now, I wonder which new/old(?) faces will we see tonight.

My pick at this time for Semifinals would be
Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and one of CSK/DC.

On the Road

He had a preference for skirts
She was a dresser of the salwars

He came on the bike
Hesitant she was in walking alone

Driving gloves, as he took off
It was her chunri which blew him away

Flicking away the dust he stood
While she came walking coyly steps measured

He asked in a tone irritated
She spoke in a low soft hush

He stood looking at her, in a daze
She was in a world new nibbling on the kulfi stick

He stood looking, and
She sat nibbling and gazing

He could have spent his life so
She couldn’t wait to get home before mom calls

My Life

The clock strikes 10 and thats when it dawns
Begins a new day, of light and hopes
A new page in the book turned,
Of Struggles and happiness
In my life

The clock strikes 5 and that’s when I stand
To end the night, to end the fun
This is where the story ends,
Of another night
In my life

And in the midst ,i live what we call life
Pages are filled, stories written
Few need blood ,some just sweat
thousands of memories, million moments lived
Some remain as blots, some shine like the sun
Some stains left, of the ink that dropped
Turbulence and the turmoil making their mark
Some reams of writings glorious
celebrating the success and joys
Some pages blank passed in a haze
Some scribbled to the heart’s content
Days spent living to the core
Some chapters torn in blaze
Some pages resemble a slate clean
Pages filled so meticulously wiped away
Games so weird played by tears
And along with this all
I play the notes, I sound the trumpet
Of a bittersweet symphony
Which I call My Life
