Supposedly one of the very happiest moment in a year of the life of every normaal individual is his/her birthday. The special event which comes only once a year the day when the person is the hero and the most important person, the day when a person is supposed to feel happy, be happy and make others happy by being happy him/herself.
I am writing this post because yesterday was my birthday and i enjoyed the day thats true. It was my best b’day night. It all started at about 11:30 pm on the 12th of May when we started drinking some cold “drinks” and started dancing and enjoying ourselves but this could continue only uptil 12:00 am when the guard came and asked us to stop the loud music i dont know what is their problem i am pretty sure that nobody in the cellar must have complained to them and that too in the summer holidays come on yaar.. once in a while this dhoom dhadaka should be allowed. After that we got out of the hostel and i was given bumps in front of NBH.. hey hey wait i wasnt supposed to be writing this. So i should come to the point which i thought about.
I was thinking whats so special in a birthday i dont see anything special happening to anybody on his/her birthday except the bumps part and wishes from friends and if some long lost friends remember then it feels very good to talk to them when they call you apart from that i didnt feel anything special at all on the day. I just dont seem to understand why is there so much hue and cry about a birthday, its pretty much the same day as other days except for some additional calls. For me it was not a special day by any measures. Some sort of melancholy settled down on me in the day time when i was alone in my room. I am somehow just so vexed with this whole setting of birthday. I just dont see any use of hyping al this birthday thing when there is nothing special in it. Its just a day when you become a day older and nothing more. If people didnt know fractions then it could have been special there would have been a jump of a full number in the age of a person but since we know of fractions then what difference does it make i mean whats the difference between 19.9973 and 20 for all pratical purposes in maths we just round it to 20 so why this whole issue of birthday.

Hey man !! there are already enough things to get frustrated of in IIIT … what I feel is its up to you to make your B’day special … It actualli gives you a reason to be happy … c’mon yaar isn’t it enough that you get a call from most of your dearest ones, I remember you onli have mentioned in some of your posts that family gets the highest priority … and you get a call from most of the people in your family (including cousins and all others) …………… as far as I am concerned thanx to you people that you made my both B’days in IIIT “memorable” as I pleaded to. I even njoi having bumps, flour and egg on ma head, cake on ma face … But realli man I cant forget ma first B’day night in IIIT when I was washing ma clothes @ 1:00 a.m. in february with cold water …..
And Buddy !! I suggest you to try making your next B’day special … and m sure your thinking will change …. al the best !!

I never found any birthday to be special except the fact that i wore new clothes or shelled out some bucks for friends . The fact is Birthday is just another day were u can officially increase ur age by a integer factor of 1 😛 , and i dont think its anything special .

Agreed that Bday is just another day where you receive calls and spend few bucks on friends.Now at this stage,away from our family and friends,you feel that there is nothing special about birthdays.But I still gotta chance.My last birthday was according to me the best birthday.I had my bro with me at 12,who came all over driving in the chilly night for me!!!What more would I ask for …I had my wonderful friends in my hostel who brought my favourite cake and teddy bears for me 🙂 ..The evening was with family and I had another cake awaiting me there…Thing is probably when I get out of Hyderabad,away from mom and dad,I am sure to be in your situation.But still 2 years to go 🙂

btw b’day 4 me is just like any other day with only a difference for about 1 hr on the prior night when u get bumps and wishes frome all ur loved ones…….but yaar it feels very good to be the most important person (though) for some time

First of all this was not a boring birthday at all this was one of my best.. 🙂
and second… the point i was trying to make was… wishes and enjoyment with friends and family all aside whats the difference in your attitude on your b’day do you do the daily chores in a different way that day??? NO i guess… so its not that the day is special but the wishes from people which make you happy and special and that makes the day different..
Come to think of it… iif you tell your friends that your birthday was on some other day then also they will wish you on that day and you can enjoy that day too.. Hope i made it clear this time… 🙂

@himank, i guess the special feelin comes from inside if u want it to. And this inside feelin is generated because of the way others treat u on that day perhaps .. like long lost friends calling and wishing u .. which makes u realise that ppl actually remember u and that makes u feel special.
@maruti, by capitalists, I guess u r refering to archies/hallmarks/ and the rest of those western gift/greeting companies … well not jus bdays, valentines day, mothers day, fathers day, .. every other kind of days r being made popular by them so that ppl buy gifts … thats true. These days are jus an excuse to make a section of the populace happy and feel special for no concrete reason. Afterall, even new year and other days arent anything substantial .. ppl jus need a seemingly valid reason to celebrate 😛 ..
and yeah these special days are huge money-spinners.

Firstly fuck i wasn’t there to enjoy the “cold” drink that day.
Secondly enjoy life mann…it’s too precious and on your birthday you have all the more reasons to celebrate as you got the gift this day…..hence a special day.
Thirdly at one point you say that this has been your best birthday and yet not special….which forces me to conclude that you are a dumb-ass and don’t know (or don’t want to) how to have fun , which ain’t correct (as far as i know you). So express yourself the right way bro….some one else might get hurt…I Mean It !!!!!!
