World Cup Round up

India – The hosts, the arguably(?) best team at the moment, though the reality should be clear after the SA tour. Only thing I can say is, they would be unfortunate not to win this cup. They have The Best batting line up in Tests & ODIs, in Dhoni they have a smart enough captain and perhaps the best keeper batsman beside Sanga (yeah I Know McCullum!), bowling, they have Zaheer and well.. Others! Bhajji, we are still hoping he will perhaps perform, Praveen Kumar and Nehra are good to okayish for ODIs. Although in the end it shall all depend on Batting and ofcourse The God.

Man to look out for – Are you asking Me?

Sri LankaGood team, great composition and since this is the sub continent, they are always there. Have got a good batting line up and in the form of Malinga and Murali(?) they have the power in bowling. Yet, to me the most important person of this tournament for them could be Matthews, the player you would love to have in ODI’s, he can bat well, he can always be depended for a good spell and quite frequently wickets. He is the man to look out for!

Man to look out for – Angelo Matthews is my pick.

England Aah! The new darlings of world cricket,  courtesy them belting Australia out, everyone’s hailing the Poms. They have some of the better batsmen in the world at this time (which has always been rare in my memory). Their pacers are nice enough and yet they have the spinner so required for sub-continent, again for the first time in my memory they have a world class spinner. They have done that recently (T20 world cup). They are the hot favorites, if not the 2 hosts, and had the WC not been scheduled in the subcontinent, they could well have been the second favs after India

Man to look out for – Eoin Morgan,He is the one Sachin tipped. He’s exciting, the ideal guy for sub continent.

South Africa Oh the perennial favorites, and the perennial chockers. They never have had any problems , they have been almost the best team always, they would have players, they will win matches and yet something or the other would happen. In Amla and AB, they have the 2 best ODI batsmen, Smith is there and Kallis, is still there, he’s never gonna leave you. They have Steyn and (?) Morkel. Only problem they seem to have is of a quality spinner(which they never have had) although some Pakistani player who shifted to SA could be an answer.

Man to look out for – Well they have always been a team.. May be AB? Amla?

Australia – Australia, Australia!! Oh mighty Australia. How far have you fallen. If only not for the fact that they are Australians, they def would have been atleast 1 and probably 2 spots down . Yet since they are Australia and they are still the no 1 side in the world. They remain in fray! In Ponting, they have a dilemma, he is one of the best batsman in the world and this is gonna be his swan song, he is going to try so hard to save his legacy which (depending on Ashes result) could have been trodden down upon or barely there. He’s gonna give it all to it and although his sub continent record say something different, but his last tour to India is something he can count upon. He definitely is the man to look for in this squad. One thing which they have going in their favour is, they have had success at sub continent more than the English, SA(ODIs), WI and likes. They are more familiar to subcontinent

Man to look out for – The Old Horse, Ricky Thomas Ponting

PakistanPerhaps for the first time ever, you rank them in the lower category. They have always been mercurial, they will always surprise you, that’s why even mediocre pakistani teams have been rated highly. Yet, this time, it feels like too much has happened. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bangladesh can defeat Pakistan comprehensively.

Player to look out for – Are there any left?

West Indies – This is where it starts getting inconsequential. You have all your lives hoped for a Caribbean revival but it has never happened and although they have fared okayish in sub continent but still 2nd level.

Player to look out for – ?

New ZealandWould have put them above the windies but a 4-0(even if you don’t consider Bangladesh as minnows) and a 5-0 loss, it just doesn’t give me confidence at all. They have the players who can perhaps by the sheer grit save matches for you, but this is not test matches we are playing. They just don’t have the fire power and in the sub continent, you cant do without it.

Player to look out for – I’d rather not look at them

Bangladesh Could I put them above NZ, given the current affairs? Somehow the conventional wisdom sets in. With their slow left armers and a guy names Shakib-Al-Hasan, they definitely are going to the 2nd round, specially given the home crowd. Their they might won some matches but don’t see them going ahead. Although stranger things will happen. Readers – Can they make this one a SL 1996 kind of triumph?

Players to look out for – Shakib

Zimbabwe Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!

Music & Cricket : The Deadly Combo

The Gods

If in Cricket there is only one God among many highly ranked mortals, then even in music, there has only been one band which could lay claim to the status of being Greater than Jesus. You already know the 2 people I am talking about, Sachin Tendulkar and The Beatles. The similarities dont only end here, lonetivity of their art is another common factor joining them. If Sachin is being nominated for the Cricketer of the Year in his 22nd year of playing, then a look at the playing stats of last.fm would give an idea as to the Numero Uno status of Beatles almost 50 years since their beginning.
If Sachin’s word was considered as final in the Sydneygate, then there’s an incident related by Pattie Boyd, about a party hosted by Rolling Stones which she and George Harrison were attending and (as expected) there were drugs going on, but it was only after the two left the party that the Police raided the venue, signifying the respect even the police had for the “Tops of the Pop”

The Trouble Children

The man who flaunted his bare chest in the Lords pavillion, who got under the nose of even the hard headed Australians, who was the first Indian to have the eye for eye attitude for anything thrown at him, the guy who is perhaps the most hated and loved one in recent indian cricket history could find no other comparison in music world other than The Rolling Stones. You wouldnt be hard pressed to find occasions when Saurav  Ganguly crossed the line, similarly instances abound when The Stones were presented before the court for their unruly behaviour.

The Ones who Changed it all

Kumble came with his flipper and the bounce and pace, weapons unknown for a leg spinner and flummoxed batsmen all around, forming the holy trinity of  bowling with Murali & Shane Warne. While Dylan came along with his baritone voice, the acoustic guitar, the harmonica and became the spokesman of people in the most eventful decade of the century again forming the Holy Trinity of Classic Rock with Beatles & The Stones. Both of them lacked the usual talents required in their field of choice(Spin/turn for Kumble, Good voice & music for Dylan) yet no one can deny the fact that Kumble is the man who won India most no of test matches and at times can only be considered second to just Sachin in stature while most of the music magazines put Dylan at the second pedestal just after the Beatles.

The Closest to Gods

Led Zeppelin are at times called the Beatles of 70s, their effect on the music scene of 70s and thereafter if not greater than Beatles, is almost as good as them, while the only regret The Wall would ever have is, had Sachin not been his contemporary, he might have a shot at being considered the best India ever produced.

The Special Ones

While Clapton was the one who defeated Harrison in a guitar duel, Very Very Special Laxman is the only batsman of the current generation whose batting can at times overshadow Sachin’s when it comes to the sheer beauty with hardly any people ever coming close to the celebrated duo. While Layla will forever be remembered as the only song to chart in 3 different decades and as perhaps the best example of romantic ballad in Rock History. The epic 281 in Kolkata will forever be remembered in annals of Indian Cricket as perhaps the best Innings ever played by an Indian. The beauty with which a ball way outside outside off is flicked through midwicket can only be matched by the enthralling solos which Clapton has managed to produce over time.

Honourable Mention:
The Golden Oldies

While Elvis’s shot to fame was the fact that he was a white man producing the kind of music only associated with blacks (Blues were the preferred genre of white musicians back then), Kapil Dev was the one who brought fast bowling into India a land known primarily for its stylist batsmen and menacing spinners. If Kapil Dev had both the boxes ticked in form of Batting and Bowling, then The King of Rock & Roll, was almost as famous for his movies as for his music. If the King, with Hips that swivelled from Africa to America made performing sexy, then the Haryana Hurricane with his power hitting was the one who brought excitement into a country filled with technically sound yet somewhat dull batsmen(read Gavaskar and likes).

Parting Shot
Geniuses on fire

You never knew what Hendrix would do with a guitar in his hand, and the same goes for Sehwag with a bat in his hands. They just blow everything away in a storm of their show

My Age

Every now and then
When i browse through the history page
I look at names famous, their respective ages
Someday or other, a soul ignited
Has taken the world over, in their youth

Every now and then
I stumble upon, a Joan of Arc
Still in teens, so young than me today
Turned the history, before she died
The only Heroine, whole world knows

Every now and then
I think about, a Sachin Tendulkar
All of sixteen, the sweetest age
When he achieved those feats immense
At my age, he already was a certified God

Every now and then
I listen to the Buddy
Twenty two,one less than me when died
Yet 50 years after his death
We’re still singing the songs he wrote

Every now and then
I look at them, the people great
Who by my age had conquered all
Salute them and be inspired, I do each day
For one day I too might leave my mark.

A long time ago

Yet Not in a Galaxy Far Far Away

The world didn’t know much about a boy named Sachin Tendulkar. He hadnt assaulted a million bowlers, even his test debut was one and half years ahead, even Ranji Trophy wasnt graced by his presence yet.

110121.2
The Little Master

And that’s when our favorite Commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote this piece about the young boy

Season 1987-88 was a purple patch that never ended. Playing in the Vijay Merchant tournament he scored 130 and 107 and then at the Inter-Zonal stage he made 117 against the champions, East Zone. Then in the Vijay Hazare tournament (for Under-17s) he scored 175 for West Zone against champions East Zone.

Then came the avalanche. A 178* in the Giles Shield and a sequence in the Harris Shield of 21*, 125, 207*, 329* and 346*! A small matter of 1028 runs in five innings! And in the course of that innings of 329* he set the much talked-about record of 664 for the third wicket with Vinod Kambli, who, it is not always realised, scored 348*. Perhaps the most fascinating of them all was the innings of 346*. Coming immediately, as it did, in the shadow of the world record, a lot of people were curious to see him bat. Sachin ended the first day on 122, batted through the second to finish with 286, and when the innings closed around lunch on the third day, he was 346*. And then came back to bowl the first ball. In April’s Bombay summer.

Another interesting piece about the famous Sachin-Kambli partnership is here.

And the day…

…shall always be remembered with happiness, sadness, ecstasy, disapointment. Every person in India was glued to the tv screen or cricinfo if the Tv wasn’t available. It was a day when all the cricketing noobs around the world got a taste of Godness of a particular person, besides getting to know the fundes of Powerplay, free hit amongst others. It was a day when a mere mortal took it upon himself to perform a deed which even the Gods couldn’t think of. This was the day when this particular person transcended the boundaries which the Gods have defined for humans, a performance which would be marked as scintillating even by those who observe us from skies above. Had such a feat been accomplished in Mahabharata or Ramayana, the associated imagery by the authors would have been of Gods coming down to Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad and garlanding the master or showering him with flowers from the skies above.

20 years have passed, many moments, many memories have passed, there are matches which almost every fan has by heart. It all started with Karachi in 1989, when the world saw the youngster for the first time, there was that mastery in Old Trafford in 1990, Sydney 1992 (arguably his best innings), Hero Cup 1993 where he showed the first signs of his magical side, 1996 WC where he started to take serious strides towards becoming the best in business (which btw was the time I started watching cricket), 1998 Sharjah aka the time when we knew that we werent witnessing some ordinary mortal, instead it was the God of cricket who was charming us, Chennai ’99, the epitome of disappointment, 2003 WC, where he again stamped his authority on the spot of the Best, that 186 against the Kiwis in Hyd. Almost any other player would be content to have one such match associated with him like the 281 by Laxman or the Adelaide test which belonged to Dravid and yet this man has been doing it for the  past 20 years. He set a benchmark in 1998 and now 11 years later, he comes up with something which could be termed as spectacular if not better than that one.

Everybody knows that there have been 2 Sachins who have played international cricket, one who was a youngster back in 90s whose name was synonymous with terror for bowlers, Shane Warne, arguably the best spinner to have graced the game would definitely agree with that. His innings used to be flashy, commanding,  flamboyant, he was jumping out of crease, he was slapping the bowlers for sixes, the pulls that he played were audacious, the last thing on mind when playing a drive was whether its in air or not…

And then came the Tendulkar of 2000s, a guy who in his late 20s was supposedly the senior most member in the side, a guy who was held responsible for every defeat although similarly cheered for every victory. A guy who didn’t have the cushion of someone like Azhar who was his senior to fall back upon. One who had to effective instead of attractive, his injuries also playing a role in this transformation. The whole of India was flummoxed at this transformation, where was that cherubic boy we loved and adored, instead he was replaced by some sincere statesman of the game. We slowly got used to this new avatar. After all we Indians are used to listening stories of 9 avatars of Lord Vishnu, this God had took just a single new form. Slowly we begin to love him, because although the stepping out to spinners wouldn’t be there, but the gorgeous cover drives were still there with cheeky shots behind the wicket replacing those straight sixes and he was Great as ever and more effective than earlier, when there was always a risk factor associated with his innings. We started thinking its ok, we don’t miss the previous avatar that much now.

BUT, deep within our hearts there is always a collective desire to see him back in 90s mould. We always loved sights of him traumatizing the bowlers, him stepping out of the crease to play that shot straight over the bowler’s head or that pull which would deposit the ball on the roof of the stadium. Although admitting something like this would be a sin, but deep within our hearts and minds, the greed is still there, the lust factor always prevails, each time he comes to bat… there is a secret desire… a wish in our minds and a prayer on our lips that we will get to see the first avatar of the God today and not the latest one.

5th Novemeber 2009 was one such night, you could sense that something speical was in store when he threw the ball on ground in disgust after the last ball of Australia’s innings, after all how many of us have seen him displaying his emotions. I have never seen such a mad rush of people on twitter, FB, Gtalk Statuses. I was always of the view that  I must be a bit different to be such a big fan of this person but last night was the night when he dispelled all those notions, guys n girls (yeah girls), cricket fans as well as amateurs, all of them were reciting just one name and there was only one number which people were concerned about i.e 200!

I have always wondered what it must be to be The Beatles but I guess this guy’s life must be more extraordinary than those of those 4 individuals combined. In my living memory, i havnt seen a real life scene as dramatic, awe-inspiring as this one. This is one of the nights I will always remember for the rest of my life , and even though all of India can still feel the pain of last night, but such is the quality of the man, that some years later, this match wouldn’t be remembered as a failure of India, instead it would be seen as the triumph of a man over all things earthly. When Sachin plays in the manner he did last night, the results are mostly inconsequential ( although they definitely count).

Its just a sense of respect for the man which lingers in your mind, a sense of previlige on having witnessed something as Godly as this from a man, who walks the earth and devours the grains just like we do. Frankly speaking I consider myself ill-equipped to be the narrator of events such as this..

Would just end the story here with a line by Rohit(a college batchmate FYI) which describes almost everything which happened last night.

I think God doesnt want Sachin to be God, so he keeps doing such things to him

We! The Indians

We are a funny lot, us the Indians!! We find pleasure in things so strange that leaves the whole world amazed and confused. We find so much pleasure in urinating and spitting at public places that nothing can compare to such pure heavenly experiences and then there are so many situations where we just fail to notice the rampant humour and happiness which is present. We can at times be so self possessed that we stop caring that there is a land by the name Kashmir which needed to be handed over to Pakistan and we also keep crying over the 200 or so lives which were lost in Mumbai while not noticing the death of 9 poor terrorists. But we can also be quite caring at times, taking care of shit aka the household waste from western countries and dumping them in our country so that those people can live their life peacefully and in cleanliness after all we are used to sitting in the fields, what would some petty waste from so few people in these countries matter to us.

For instance how can we fail to see the happiness which we should receive when we have an actor who was booked and served a sentence in jail comes out to contest election. He i being termed the messenger of Gandhi in this age for the youth and of course he should be referred to as one. Dont we all rmr that he was the part of highly successful venture which professed about Gandhi and I am pretty sure that he must have been the only person there sitting with the Writing staff serving up as an encyclopedia about Gandhi and his philosophies. Irony of the situation is that some fools try to write him off, saying that he shouldn’t (or can’t) contest elections and as a result angering his supporters. Now here, I would like ask those dear friends of mine,  if we can have so many criminals in politics then why can’t we add another one to the list. After all he made us proud by making a film on Gandhi, thats all we need in a politician ain’t it?

Then you have another set of fools who even try suggesting that may be we could try caring less about International Accolades and recognition and try being satisfied with the recognition we get in our land and not let people who are heroes in their own rights in the nation to the level of paupers in other nations just because they are from a different culture and speak a language very different. After all, the only thing we need in our heroes is a certification from some global body, because its only such bodies which can recognize the real worth of anybody or anything. Don’t you think the people from West Indies are such fools, how could they not make such a fuss about Brian Lara not being amongst the top batsmen in Test Cricket! :O Look at us and all the hue and cry we made just to get a certain someone called Sachin Tendulkar, who just has only 28,000 runs and only 83 centuries in International Cricket (OMG what a shame, not even 100!! 😦 ). I mean what can these nos and view of millions of Indians who consider him “God” mean against a list released by Wisden which placed him at the 25th position. We are colonized people and we need the recognition from our Lords sitting in the office there at Lords to give their stamp of Authority and failing to do so, we can’t do anything but be cry babies because they are so important than the millions of us. Its beyond common sense how West Indians(they are also sort of Indians atleast the name says so) be so ignorant of those high powers and don’t crib about their batsman being there at the top of list. Such a laughing stock they are 🙂 We also really enjoy it when the best movies made by us, which at times have changed lives of people, made people laugh, cry and see things like never before are allowed to compete in Oscars in secondary categories like “Best Foreign Film” after all its always an honour to be recognized by them!

As everybody knows that we are very cooperating people and tend to accept everybody with open arms and hearts, we have been receiving people from all over the world. We are such loving people that we have made it a habit of marking people who don’t identify with us as our own and showering all our TLC on them. That’s why we get all mushy mushy and start blushing when Bobby Jindal kisses his wife in public, We keep calling Salman Rushdie to India, because it is real sons like him who by telling the world about all the problems in India are doing us a favour. We also have no problems in accepting Slumdog Millionaire as our own product, coz after all its based in India, and it has actors like Anil Kapoor & Irfan Khan in it, doesn’t matter that the director is a foreigner coz he knws the director of the movie, its only the actors who make the movie, isn’t it?

Song of the Day :- Delhi 6 from the namesake movie!

Sachin : The Phenomenon!!

I need not remind anyone of the occasion of today’s post, even the cricket noobs are aware of the fact that this is the day of the God, this is the day when he has surged past Lara making him the official crown holder in both the forms of cricket. We all knew this moment was to come, sooner or later we knew that this was the place which Sachin rightly deserved and finally today he did the needful doing the task of getting the required 16 runs and going past Lara, the one batsman in modern cricket whose stature can be compared to that of Sachin.

If the knock played by him in the 2nd innings of previous test match was an antithesis of the Sachin we have known then today we saw Sachin at song, of course the part till he scored the runs required to overhaul Lara was a bit painful but that is understandable but after that everything was vintage Sachin. If the glorious On-Drive, the Cover drive with ball speeding away was there then there was also the use of feet against the spinner to send the ball to midwicket boundary. It was Sachin as we have seen him for so long, the person who sounded death knell for the opposition. The whole innings was chanceless except the once he made a mistake and Peter Siddle the debutant made merry 😦 depriving Sachin of a well deserved century.

There has been a lot of hue and cry over Sachin extending his career, him being finished and Ian Chappell saying that the “Fab Four” are playing only for financial gains. To that man I will just say one thing “_|_”. Sachin answered you today and then answer didn’t come by the display of his shots or the innings he played here or in Chinnaswamy or the hundreds of others which he has played over the last 19 years. You just have to see him still running hard the first run always looking for more and more runs. His eagerness for runs was quite evident when he played a ball from Johnson and wanted the third run though Ganguly the evergreen sloth of Indian team not interested sent him back which brought an immediate frustrated “Come on” from the master and after all this if you tell me that this guy doesn’t have the drive to play, then it would be better if we just don’t talk about it.

As a batsman he may be at par with a rare few but he is not only a player for us Indians, he is a phenomenon, he is the God. He is the inspiration we all look forward to when we want to know how success looks like; he is the epitome of hard work. He is the face of the new India which like the Indian team was hopeless in 90s until he came and showed us how to succeed and how to take the opposition on, no matter how strong the opposition is. Even if you have your back to the wall, you can always come out a winner, if you wanna achieve it.

In the end would just quote cricinfo

“But Tendulkar is more than the sum of his figures. His mere presence is a morale booster, both for his ten colleagues in the team, and the billion supporters outside it. As remarkable as his record is his self-possession. His head hasn’t changed size, his boots haven’t grown smaller. He alone knows what it means to be Tendulkar, with its frustrations, its sacrifices, and the need to be Tendulkar at all times. He is a one-man university that teaches sportsmen how to handle money, fame and pressure”

Just one more thing to say

Cricket is my Religion AND
Sachin is my GOD

Cheers to you Sachin! May you score many many more of these runs.

EDIT: Some time back a friend of mine asked me who would I chose between “Beatles and Sachin”, I was confused for a while before deciding it was Sachin but I can’t be more sure today about the answer. Thank you man for all these Wonder Years which you gave us!! 😀

DHONI the Great

I had promised my friends that I wouldn’t be writing any of the rather ordinary posts which I have been writing in the recent times, but I couldn’t stop myself from writing about this joyous event. This is one of the greatest moments in the history of Indian Cricket and no stone should be left unturned in the celebration of this momentous occasion. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the greatest player India has produced in the recent times has been given the highest award for any sport person. He has been conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.

I can see people complaining from different quarters that how can senior players like Ganguly, Dravid and Kumble be ignored and this young chap be given the award but they don’t know the greatness of this guy. Even the GOD, Sachin Tendulkar had to wait for 10 years before getting this award but our young lad, the hero of the generation, heartthrob of a million girls reached the mark in just a mere 4 years making the better player than even the GOD, unfortunately we don’t have anything greater than God, so now on we have another adjective “Dhoni” for someone even the Gods should worship.

People keep complaining about his test performances and such useless crap like, he decided to sit out of a important test series, but those people, my dear friends are just jealous of this 8th wonder of the world.  After all who in this fucking world cares about the boring shit called test match, which is all just a piece of crap after all who is willing to spend 5 days just to see all those people running after the ball. What we need now is a player who can walk the ramp so naturally just as if he is doing his morning routine. What will we do with players like Sachin who are never ever seen with Bollywood actress. Now we need a new hero of the new generation who dates lasses like Deepika Padukone.Even THE  Bradman would have bowed down before this GOD of Gods and would have loved to serve him for life, if he were alive today. Alas the old chap is dead now and couldn’t benefit with the golden oppurtinity.

People always keep saying that Ganguly was such a great captain, but what did that idiot do?? Nothing!! All he could do was win a test against the all beating Australian team in Australia and guided the team to the final of a World Cup but look at our hero. He won the biggest tournament of all, he won the T20 WORLD CUP for India. I must say again, who cares about Test Cricket, we are fast people of the fast generation following the fast DHONI.

Look at Kumble the idiot and you will realize that why he couldn’t ever be the cult hero like Dhoni. What he did in Sabina Park in 2002, that foolish guy came with a broken jaw to bowl in a test match and even got the wicket. Now somebody should have told him that these are the times to gain some sympathy from people and become famous but that ass would come out like a lion to bowl a spell and make people think that all this jaw trouble is nothing.

Our great Dhoni, decided to rest himself from the Test Series as he is obviously tired of playing so much of one day and T20 cricket and one more thing which BCCI have failed to see is that, the time has come when the young guy should be given the lead of the team, after all how can such players keep playing under such fools as Kumble. Just pure pathetic thinking on the part of BCCI, how can you dare disrespect the Great Dhoni by not making him the captain.

So what if he is left wanting against the superior pace bowling on friendly wickets like Australia, who cares. After all why should we go to play in the backyards of those pomies, they are just a bunch of giants with a guy who spits on his own hand. Now the time has come that we started playing only on sub continent pitches because this is what real cricket is, the cricket our dear Dhoni likes, with scores above 300 for the taking in every one day match. With matches where he can murder the poor helpless bowlers on the flat wickets, after all shouldn’t we as Indians be proud of all things Indian, including those flat wickets which only we produce. One or two spinning tracks can pose a problem but we can surely manage them by making him rest on such venues so that we don’t make a dent into the great batting average of the great Dhoni.

If you want to consider Dravid, we can also do that. Tell me frankly who has got time to see his exquisite cover drives, who has got the eyes for the stylish and sweet follow through of his bat. What we want is the dhobhi pachhad cricket where you should hit the ball in most awkward you can. In my opinion, Dravid is the worst thing to happen to Indian Cricket since a certain Sunil Gavaskar. Its time people realize technique and patience are passé. We just want fatafat cricket in the most desi and Indian way.

The most important thing which Dhoni has done is taught us ugly Indians how to live in style, how to have those well set hair. We are a nation who never understood the value of style (or Tashan) and always tended to concentrate on the talent and sublimity of ordinary mortals like Sachin, Dravid. Its time we took notice of our sex appeal and do our best to become ishmaaart like apne Dhoni bhaia, see yahan bhi ganwarpan, he is Dhoni the stud, not Dhoni Bhaia!!

Infact I suggest that Sachin’s Khel Ratna be also taken back and not given back to him until he takes coaching from Dhoni and dates a few of the Bollywood starlet and for God’s sake he should do something of his hair, look at Dhoni’s flowing silky locks and look at Sachin seems as if someone has pasted some black thing on his head.. He  looks so ruddy uncool man!! How can you expect such a person to represent the country? He always paints a bad picture of the country in front of whole world. The most embarassing thing he does is biting his own nails all the time, comeon man how unhygenic!! Tch tch tch!!

HAIL THE GREAT DHONI!!
&
Congrats to him on winning the award

Impressionable MindS

One thing which always remains a puzzle is the thinking of the human brain and the things which have the effect on the working and thinking of a human mind. In very small time, your thinking can change from completely detesting a thing to supporting it by your life and there sure are quite a few examples where a single lecture or a speech has changed the view point of people. One of the reasons why people started flocking behind Hitler was that he was one of the best orators and could persuade people and make them think the way he did, and thus succeeded in getting a huge support. Sometimes same thing can have different effect coming from different mouths.

Two incidents which happened recently made me think this way,

First was the issue of Olympic Torch, the day Amir Khan decided to carry the torch all the newspapers were fill with views that Amir should follow Baichung Bhutia’s example and refrain from carrying the torch, I too had the same view but a few days later, I came to know that none other than Sachin was also asked to carry the torch and my thinking changed at all and never for once did the thought crossed my mind that Sachin could be doing something wrong by not supporting the cause of Tibetan people coz Sachin being the paragon of all things good and right for me cant ever do any thing wrong and this action by Sachin made me change my views a bit about the topic. The thing is, Its not only me who thinks, No newspaper has raised a finger at Sachin, no open letters have been sent to Sachin on this issue which somehow show the working of human mind.

Another issue which made me think on these lines happened today (When I started thinking after this issue, that’s when Sachin issue came to my mind). Some of you who might have had a glance at the news sites must have got to know that Supreme Court has upheld the quota for OBC which was first proposed by the government 2 years back and while I think many people wrote then and many must be writing on it now, so no need to write anything about it. So coming back to my point, when it was announced by the Govt. in the first place, I never even thought about this even for an instant and straight away rubbished the thought from my mind but today when I learned that Supreme Court has given the verdict in favour of the quota, I was forced to think for sometime atleast that there must be something right in giving quota to the OBC because such a respected and learned body like the Supreme Court of India thinks so though even after some thinking this thought didn’t appeal to me.

Just two points to show that however strong we consider our mind and claim to be learned , our mind will always be influenced when someone whom we consider more learned than us comes and tell us something . I just wanted to know that do the leaders of the world and I mean leaders in true sense, not the general politicians (people like Mahatma Gandhi, Hitler, Napoleon, Akbar, Alexander,Ashoka) , people who have shaped the destiny of the world also get influenced by other people because they are the people who influence millions of people.
